Rapid Expansion

One of those 23 begibberty million posts I am really longing to write involves just how different this pregnancy has been from Joel’s. Even if we remove the emotional issues, physically we are playing a whole different ball game. It has given me a whole new empathy for women who struggle during pregnancy, and I am well aware that I could be much worse off. I am also struggling to gain the recommended amount of weight – DUMBEST PROBLEM EVER. It would take me an entire post, or a short novel, to explain exactly what is happening and why. This stuff is, well, complicated.

But there are some things that are much easier to explain like how I was genetically blessed with awesome abs. Don’t hate me, if you were blessed with my thighs too, you’d think twice and run. Anyway, those buggers held on like WHOA during Joel’s pregnancy and refused to make a nice little bump - for the longest time I just had an expanding torso. Like this, see?

Look past the funny pj’s – these pictures were never meant to share. Also, until about 30 weeks you could still see vertical ab lines on the sides, madness. At the end it was mercilessly painful when my two-pack, those top two muscles, just refused to give up and daily felt like they were being ripped apart. It was nuts.
This time? Hah. Because their due dates are only 15 months apart I knew my stomach probably wouldn’t hold out past the positive pregnancy test before making the leap to bump-hood. And my mom likes to remind me that there are 34 weeks worth of baby in there, but here is the scene from this morning.

Yowsa. This is going to get really interesting.
