Ch - Ch - Changes

Things they are a-changin’ round here at Joel Lives. For starters, my husband has a new name and no face. Errrr, what? Yes, well, you see, awesome husband spends most of his time at his technology firm slaving away to make a nice life for us. But in his abundant (snort) free time, he still works for the Army. He has been in for a very long time and is a member of the “special” part of the Army. The part where “forces” are highly trained and need to keep a low profile. Although 7 of the 8 readers of this blog know us in real life, our goal was more to make him much less g00gle-able. If you really wanted to I am certain you could find him, but that doesn’t mean we should make it easier by exposing him on this site. So he is now Leonidas (Leo), which he loves and it totally suits my warrior-king. This is also good because it makes me a queen, and it is good to be the queen.

Another change we are working on is to upgrade the platform for the site. I like it here, I think you like it here (thanks for sticking around!) and so it seems like it is time to turn this into a real live blog instead of the sort of starter kit we have been working with. Over the next week or so we are going to attempt the switch. So don’t panic if the site goes down, chances are I will crash the whole thing at least once and make a minimum of 23 technology messes. I am very bad at technology; we are usually in a fight so this might get interesting.

Third, I have to comment on yesterday’s post. As I reviewed what I wrote it occurred to me that in some way I might have minimized the struggles that others encounter in this life. This was not my goal. Mother Theresa said “We cannot compare sufferings.” She was right; I really just wanted to convey how hard it is to make someone understand something that defies understanding. This is true of countless sorrows and struggles, and I hope that whatever your struggle, you found my words to be true for you as well. I am certain that we have all struggled to share our heart with others when they just can’t fathom what we are going through. I wanted to point that out for all of us, not to say that my pain and inability to make you understand are somehow greater than anyone else’s.

Alright, I’m off to work or Leo will kick me into the pit. I’m pretty sure he is going to run around the office all day shouting “THIS. IS. SPARTA.” He’s fun like that.
